ABOUT Mackenzie

Hello, my name is Mackenzie! I am a practicing costume designer in Los Angeles, California. This Fall, I am finishing my last semester of my B.A. in Theatre (Design Emphasis) at the University of Southern California.

USC has allowed me an abundance of opportunities such as designing theatre productions, MFA School of Cinematic Arts films, and working in the costume shop. Through my designs I emphasize my versatility in genre, custom details for storytelling, and speciality in period costuming. 

 

Alongside USC, I am pursuing my certificate in Collections Management for Costumes and Textiles. As well as working at Universal Studios, Hollywood as a Costume Dresser.

In addition to my experience in the United States, in Summer of 2023 I expanded my skills to the United Kingdom! I was a Student Intern for The Tudor Tailor as I assisted with the shop orders, helped to create and make an Elizabethan ensemble, and many other various costume tasks. It was such an incredible and priceless experience where I learned much more about 16th century fashion, garment construction, fabrics, and so much more. 

 

As my time in my education comes to a close, I look forward to applying my skills from my coursework to larger scale productions through being a PA for studios' film and television as well as costume designing more projects.
